Indiana University must comply with a wide range of state and federal reporting requirements, as well as other requests for institutional information from commercial and non-profit agencies. University Institutional Research and Reporting (UIRR) staff completes a portion of these reporting requirements for all campuses.
This section includes the required reports that provide useful information to our colleagues within the university, as well as to our institutional peers and other interested members of the community. Also included are Net Price Calculators for use by prospective and current students at the IU regional campuses.
Federally Required Consumer Information
Occasionally legislation will be passed down to institutions mandating the disclosure of specific information for public (consumer) information. Some of these historic mandates include the Student-Right-To-Know Act (SRTK), Equity in Athletics Disclosures Act, Jeanne Clery of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, and Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA). These disclosure items are provided in the following views.
On June 23, 2022, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) adopted a new student achievement policy which included data requirements needed for disclosure/compliance purposes. In the past, HLC compliance needs had always aligned with HEOA requirements, but the new policy required the institution to add completion and job placement/earning views.
Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE)
The primary reporting requirements of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) include the annual submission of “unit-record” data files on student profiles, credits, degrees conferred, and financial aid.
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), established by the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), a division of the U.S. Department of Education, is a system of surveys designed to collect data from all primary providers of postsecondary education. The IPEDS system is built around a series of interrelated surveys to collect institution-level data in such areas as enrollment, degree completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, financial aid, and finances.
Regional Campus Net Price Calculators
In accordance with the federal Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended, each postsecondary institution that participates in the Title IV federal student aid programs is required to post a net price calculator on its website that uses institutional data to provide estimated net price information to current and prospective students and their families based on a student’s individual circumstances.
